Carroll County Probate and Juvenile Judge John Campbell is scheduled to speak at the annual Veterans Day ceremony to be held Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery in Carrollton.
The general public is invited and encourage to attend the ceremony. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 at Carrollton elementary school are expected to attend.
Malvern Observance
Malvern American Legion Post 375 will hold their annual Veteran’s Day dinner and ceremonies at 1 p.m. Nov. 14 at the post hall on the corner of Grant and Bridge streets. Post members, their families and all veterans as well as community members are invited to attend the event.
Those planning to attend the dinner are asked to contact any Post member or call 330-863-2744 in advance with the number of people who will be in attendance. There is also a signup sheet posted on the bulletin board at the club.
The day’s speaker will be William “Bill” Balser, a member of the Melvin Mayfield American Legion Post 804 in St. Louisville.
Balser, who was elected alternate National Executive Comitteeman at the National American Legion Convention last September in Milwaukee, WS, was also elected to the office of Department of Ohio’s Commander in 2005 at the department’s 87th annual convention held in Cleveland.
Balser’s eligibility to join the Legion comes from his service in the U. S. Army as a tank commander and radio operator from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. |
