If you like marching bands and drum lines, you will want to attend the annual Carrollton High School Warrior Marching Band’s Extravaganza this Saturday evening (Sept. 27) at the Community Field on SR 332, just south of Carrollton.
The event will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with the playing of the National Anthem by the Carrollton Warrior band under the direction of David Dickerhoof. Carroll County Municipal Court Judge Charles A. Johnston will serve as Master of Ceremonies for the show which will feature seven of the area’s finest high school marching bands and drum lines.
According to CHS Band Director Dickerhoof, the seven high school marching bands will present a regular half-time show and the drum lines will give a mini 5-minute performance featuring their cadences and percussion techniques.
Tickets for Saturday night’s show, sponsored by the CHS Band Boosters, may be purchased in advance for $5 at the Carrollton High School office on 3rd St. NE or at the gate the night of the performance.
The show will feature the following bands. In order of performance, they are;
Conotton Valley, directed by Carey Moore.
Tusky Valley, directed by Merri Gensley.
Field High School at Mogador, directed by Charles Collins.
Southern Local, directed by Emily Forbes.
Alliance, directed by Shaun Fontaine.
Indian Creek, directed by Don Llewellyn.
Carrollton, directed by David Dickerhoof.
Drum line performances will be given by Alliance, Indian Creek, Southern Local, Carrollton, Conotton Valley, Tusky Valley and Field.
A tabloid featuring photos and stories about each of the seven bands is included in this week’s issue of The Free Press Standard. Plaques, provided by the Band Boosters, will be presented during an awards ceremony near the conclusion of the show. |
