Members named to Malvern Park Board

Two new Park Board members were appointed when Malvern Village Council met Monday.

Council passed a motion  and appointed Frank Williamson to a one-year term on the board and Roy Ludy to a two-year term.

A Park Board meeting was scheduled to be held Wednesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. in the pavilion by the tennis courts at the park.

Councilwoman Angela Lambert, who is also on the Park Board, said the rental fees for the pavilions will remain the same as they were last year at $45.

Lambert also asked if the Village Street Department would power wash the pavilions and also the playground equipment.

Village Administrator Jim Bates said he would take care of it.

In another matter, council was updated by Carol Brawley from the Malvern Historical Society on the flower barrels that will be placed around town.
Anyone wishing to sponsor a barrel should contact the Historical Society. The cost to sponsor a barrel is $35.

In other business, council:
- PASSED a motion granting permission to John Knight to have a tree removed along the curb strip in front of his home.

- ANNOUNCED the next Dancing on the Bridge meeting originally set for May 15 has been rescheduled for May 16 in Village Hall at 6 p.m.

- PASSED second reading of  resolution 2-2008 to donate $150 to American Legion Post 375 to help pay for flags for Memorial Day.

- PASSED the first reading of ordinance 2008-8 to make changes in the Village Policy and Personnel manual.

- PASSED the first reading of ordinance 2008-9 to set the rate of pay for the mayor beginning Jan. 1, 2010, at $3,000 per year.

- PAID monthly bills in the amount of $10,753.67 in vendor invoices and $5,036.43 for payroll paid May 1, 2008.

- HELD an executive session at the end of the regular meeting to discuss personnel with no action taken.

The next regular meeting will be held Monday, May 19, in Village Hall at 7 p.m.
