Carroll County has recorded its 7th traffic fatality and the third motorcycle fatality in three months.
Robin L. Daniels, 46, of 1805 Danbury Ave., Wellsville, became the county’s 7th fatality Saturday when she was injured fatally in a motorcycle accident on E. Main St. in Carrollton.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Post at New Philadelphia, Daniels was westbound on a 2002 Yamaha V-Star Classic motorcycle when she failed to negotiate a right curve, just 86 feet west of the Carrollton corporation limit near the north-south alley which leads to 2nd St. SE. The crash occurred at 1:52 p.m.
Troopers said Daniels, who was not wearing a protective helmet, lost control, overturned the motorcycle onto its right side and was ejected, striking the roadway. The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
In a preliminary coroner’s ruling, Carroll County Coroner Dr. Mandal Haas said Daniels died of severe facial and skull injuries and severe trauma. “No alcohol is suspected,” Dr. Haas added.
In accordance with Ms. Daniels’ wishes, her body was taken to the Carroll County Morgue and later that afternoon transferred to Cuyahoga County where her tissues were removed and donated to Life Bank in Cleveland.
The body was later taken to the Roberts Funeral Home in Wellsville for services. A life flight reportedly was summoned at the time of the accident, but later canceled when Daniels died at the scene. |
