Area churches plan Christmas eve services

FPS staff report

Our Lady of Mercy,

Christmas Eve Masses - at 5 and 9 p.m. at Our Lady of Mercy and 7 p.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Morges.
Christmas Day Masses - 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy; 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Morges.

Christmas services scheduled at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carrollton include the following:
The annual Christmas Eve service will be held at 9:30 p.m. with special music beginning at 9 p.m. Dec. 24.

Participants will include a four-hand piano duet by Dale Carr and Mary Jane Senften, a solo by Rachel Rinkes, a duet by Rachel Rinkes and Lynn Capper, both accompanied by Judy Capper.

The Trinity Trio, comprised of Betty Russell, Carol Puckett and Karen Frase, will also sing, along with a solo by Carl Coffy, all accompanied by Elaine Gavorcik.

The combined choirs of the two churches will also present “The Christmas Story” cantata at the Magnolia Lutheran Church at the 9 a.m. service Dec. 27. The public is invited and welcome to attend all the services.

The public is invited to Christmas Eve services to be held at 7:30 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church on Arrow Rd. and at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on Aurora Rd., west of Augusta, beginning at 11 p.m.

First Christian Church of Malvern will present a program titled “Emmanuel: Celebrating Heaven’s Child” Christmas Eve. The prelude will begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, and will include vocalists and instrumentalists.
The program at 7 p.m. will include solos by Valerie Montgomery singing “Mary Did You Know” and Christine Foutz singing “Jesus, Oh, What a Wonderful Child.”

Narration will be presented by Rich Burton and Tana Hall. George Keralis, the church’s senior minister, will give reflective moments about the events of Christmas and the birth of Jesus.

The public is invited to attend the Christmas Eve worship service. Childcare will be provided. The church is located at 4046 Coral Rd. NW in Malvern. For information and directions, contact the church office at 330-863-1303.

Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church will host a Christmas Eve service for the public Thursday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.

The carols and candles program will include a meditation,
“Do You See What I See” by Pastor Carl Orphanides. The church is located at 89 Canyon Rd. SW, Carrollton.

New Rumley United Methodist Church will hold a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m. Dec. 24.
The service will also include a children’s play entitled “Sleepover at the Stable” and special music by the adult choir.

Two candlelight services will be held at 7 and 11 p.m. Christmas Eve (Dec. 24) at Carrollton First United Methodist Church to which the public is invited. Communion will be offered at the 11 p.m. service. The church is located on the corner of S. Lisbon St. and 3rd St. SE.

Greenbriar Church at 5207 Apollo Rd., Salineville:
Candlelight Christmas Eve service will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 at the church where Harold Barber serves as pastor.

Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Harlem Springs:
Dec. 24 - Candlelight Christmas Eve service at 11 p.m. to which all is welcome.
