FPS staff report

The Carroll County Ministerial Association will host a Community Good Friday Service at the Church of Christ (Christian -Disciples) beginning at 7 p.m. March 29.

The public is warmly invited to share in the holy remembrance of Christ’s suffering and death upon the cross for the sins of the world.

 Rev. Frank Leghart, pastor of the Carrollton Believer’s Fellowship, will bring the evening Scripture message.

 The Church of Christ (Christian-Disciples) is located at 353 Moody Avenue in Carrollton.

St. Martin Lutheran Church in Malvern will have four events during Holy Week.  On Good Friday, March 29, St. Martin will host the Community Good Friday Service beginning at 12 noon.  The church is located at 301 W. Main Street.  This year’s community service will feature sermons by Rev. Allen Hill from Malvern United Methodist Church, Fr. Vic Cinson from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, and Rev. Wally Anderson from St. Martin Lutheran Church.

In the evening St. Martin will have its regular Good Friday Tenebrae Service. This “Service of Darkness” will feature a reading of the Passion Story in eight parts as lighted candles are extinguished. The choirs from St. Martin and St. James Lutheran Church, Tuscarawas, will perform in the service.

On Saturday St. Martin will host its annual Sunday School Easter egg hunt starting at 11 a.m. Eggs will be hidden by church youth and children from toddler to 6th grades will search for them inside and outside the church (weather permitting). At noon there will be a lunch.

On Easter Sunday members are invited to bring items for an Easter breakfast in Luther Hall beginning at 9:30 a.m.  There will be an Easter prelude featuring the Bell Chime Choir and Organ at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Easter Service at 11 a.m.  The Easter service will include Holy Communion.

The congregation is advised that a Maundy Thursday service will only be at St. James Lutheran Church, 215 Church St. in Tuscarawas. A carpool will be leaving the Malvern church parking lot at 6 for the 7 p.m. service. St. Martin Lutheran Church is located at 301 W. Main St.

St. Martin Lutheran Church in Malvern will host the Malvern Community Good Friday Service March 29 at noon.

The annual service will feature sermons by three pastors from the Malvern Ministerial Association which will focus on the theme “The Events of Good Friday from the Point of View of the Holy Trinity”. Fr. Vic Cinson of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church,will look at Good Friday from the point of view of God the Father.

Rev. Allen Hill of Malvern United Methodist Church will look at Good Friday from the point of view of God the Son, Jesus Christ and finally, Rev. Wally Anderson of St. Martin Lutheran Church will present the point of view of God the Holy Spirit.

Attendees are invited to come and go during the noontime service as they have time available.

St. Martin Lutheran Church is located at 301 W. Main St. and parking is available in the parking lot as well as in front of the church along W. Main St. The church is handicap accessible from the rear door only. 

Carrollton United Methodist Church
Carrollton United Methodist Church at 253 S. Lisbon St. will hold a Maundy Thursday service beginning at 6:45 p.m. this Thursday in the fellowship hall.

An Easter sunrise service will be a Service of Light with an opportunity to reaffirm the Baptismal Covenant at 6:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31.

Participants will gather in the lower hallway and process into the sanctuary for the worship service to be followed by breakfast prepared by the United Methodist men.

Regular 8:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services, along with Sunday school at 9:40 a.m. will also be held Sunday.

Holy Week Services at Kilgore United Methodist Church include a Maundy Thursday service March 28 at 7 p.m. and a Sunrise Service March 31 at 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast in the church. The regular 9:30 a.m. service will follow the breakfast.

A combined Good Friday Service will be held for Kilgore and Harsh Memorial churches March 29 at 7 p.m. in Harsh Memorial Church in Harlem Spring.

Kilgore United Methodist Church is located just off SR 164 and SR 9 in Kilgore.

A Sunrise service will be held at 7:30 a.m. at Heaven’s Edge Apostolic Church at 1196 Brenner Rd. NE, Carrollton, Easter Sunday, March 31.

Donuts, juice and coffee will be served following the service. There will be no other service that day. Pastor Bill Grimes has extended a welcome to the community to join them in this Easter celebration.

Augusta Christian Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 7:45 a.m. Sunday with a breakfast to follow and the regular worship service at 10:45 a.m.
Herrington Bethel Untied Methodist Church will hold an Easter sunrise service at 8 a.m. with a breakfast to follow and the regular service at 9:30 a.m.

Mt Zion United Methodist Church will join Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church for an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with a breakfast to follow. The Sunday morning regular worship service will be at Mt. Zion Church where a Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6 p.m. this Thursday.

Corinth United Presbyterian Church in Mechanicstown will host a Maundy Thursday service for Stillfork Presbyterian Church at 6 p.m.

Stillfork Church will host an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with a breakfast to follow. The regular service will be held at 9:30 a.m. with Rev. Ryan Hale. The public is invited to attend any of the services.

Perrysville and Pleasant Hill United Methodist Churches will hold an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. Easter Sunday, March 31, at the Perrysville Church located on SR 164 in Perrysville.

Worship will follow a both churches with a 9 a.m. service at Pleasant Hill and a 10:30 a.m. service at Perrysville to which the community is invited.

The session of Carrollton United Presbyterian Church will hold its annual Upper Room service with communion and special music in observance of Maundy Thursday this Thursday, March 28, at 7 p.m.

Rev. David Krankovich is host pastor and invites the public. The church is located at 265 2nd St. SW, Carrollton.
