Coming of age: Leesville to install Internet connection

By Jacquie Humphrey
FPS Correspondent

Leesville council agreed to install internet service in village hall during the February meeting.

As requested at the January meeting, Fiscal Officer Sally Bernhart provided an estimate for DSL Internet service to be installed in village. She said there is a special available through Frontier at the rate of $80 per month, with a two-year commitment.

Council discussed the matter, noting that several monthly and quarterly tax reports are now required to be filed electronically and the difficulty for the Fiscal Officer to transport that information from the Village Hall to another location for this purpose.

Council voted unanimously to add Internet service to the Village’s telephone line.

Councilman John Traxler said he received a complaint regarding the condition of Green Street and Solicitor Jason Jackson said he also received a telephone call regarding the same matter.

Traxler said the village received paperwork for the annual Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding and suggested council submit the paving of Green Street as a project to be funded. He said the Street Department will make some temporary repairs, as finances allow.

In other business, council:
