Carroll County Commissioners proclaimed Aug. 9 as National Marina Day last week.

Carroll County Health Commissioner Melanie Campbell and Brian Valot of Atwood Marina West were present to make the request. Valot said Atwood Marina West has been participating in Marina day for the past nine or 10 years and Campbell, who was representing Carroll County Safe Kids, said the organization has been a participant for the past three years. The event will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Atwood Marina West. The day will include educational session with Ranger Mike aboard the Atwood Queen, bounce house and face painting, educational stations by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Red Cross, Safe Kids and Atwood Rangers. Attendees will be able to tour a houseboat and a large sailboat. The event is free and open to the public.
