Five fire departments responded to a fire that left the homeowners stranded on the roof of an addition the structure late Friday evening.
Brown Twp. Fire Chief Mike Penick said the Minerva Fire Department was the first to arrive on the scene at the Mark and Amanda (Mandy) Snode home at 6052 Arrow Rd., Minerva. The department was toned at 11:06 p.m., followed by departments from Brown Twp., Carrollton Village, Carroll County and Augusta.
A deputy from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department arrived prior to firefighters and found both Amanda and Mark on the roof. Amanda jumped off the roof and went to get a ladder to rescue her husband.
During the fall she sustained a sprained ankle. Mark suffered smoke inhalation. Both were treated and released at an area hospital.
When firefighters arrived, both the first and second floor of the two-story structure at the front of the house were engulfed in flames.
The home and contents were valued at approximately $160,000. Damage is estimated at approximately $150,000.
Firefighters remained on the scene until 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
The couple is staying with relatives. |
