Martin named director of county child support agency

FPS staff report

MartinCarroll County Prosecuting Attorney Donald R. Burns Jr. has announced the appointment of Shelley A. Martin as Director of the Carroll County Child Support Enforcement Agency.

According to Burns, she began employment for the Bureau of Support in 1983 as a case worker and has served as Assistant Director from 1984 to 2009 when she was named interim director upon the retirement of former director Karl T. Wells.

In addition to her 25 years of experience in the day-to-day operations of the Agency, Burns notes her affiliation with various entities which advocate for the support of children including serving as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Family Support Association and a board member and president of the Canton District of the Ohio Child Support Director’s Association.

She is also a member of the National Child Support Enforcement Association and is a member of the Eastern Regional Interstate Child Support Association.

Burns says he is confident that Shelley has the qualifications to maintain the Carroll County Child Support Enforcement Agency’s reputation for providing prompt, accurate and courteous service to all parents, employers, the Courts and Attorneys and also ensure diligent and effective enforcement of child support obligations.

A 1980 graduate of Carrollton High School, Shelley is a daughter of William J. (Bill) and Barbara Martin of Carrollton. She and her husband, Jeff, have a son.

The staff of the Carroll County Child Enforcement Agency, located on the corner of N. Lisbon St. and Main St. in downtown Carrollton, includes:
Darla Lucas, Case Manager Supervisor; Darlene Schier, Fiscal Supervisor; Marilyn Wells, Paternity/Intake Specialist; Donna Ott, June McLaughlin and Debbie Wright, all Enforcement Case Managers; Karla Wells, Cashier/Bookkeeper, and Marlene Wilson, Customer Service/Administrative Assistant.
