Truck accident on St. R. 43
Both drivers were injured in a two-vehicle pickup truck accident Saturday on SR 43 at Hibbetts. A Magnolia man remained in the Intensive Care Unit at Aultman Hospital at press time this week following a two-vehicle accident Saturday on SR 43 at Hibbetts, north of Carrollton.

Samuel Russell Jr., 38, of 200 Plain St., Magnolia, was transported to the hospital after his 2000 GMC Sierra pickup truck was struck by a 1994 Ford Ranger driven by Brian Ohler, 17, of 5231 Aurora Rd., Mechanicstown. Ohler, who was life flighted to Aultman Hospital, was treated and released.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohler was southbound on SR 43 at 12:28 p.m. when he served left of center to avoid another vehicle which was making a turn onto Co. Rd. 15 (Arrow Rd) and struck the Russell’s northbound vehicle. The Ohler vehicle went off the east side of the highway where the Carrollton Village Fire Department had to use the Jaws of Life to extract the driver. No passengers were in either vehicle.

Ohler was cited for assured clear distance and both vehicles were totally damaged.
