Buyers came from several states to attend the 27th annual Farm Toy Show and Auction held Nov. 24 at Garner’s Auction Center near Carrollton.
Auctioneer Larry Garner said approximately 305 guests “cruised the isles” of the toy show looking over the farm toys and trucks displayed on nearly 60 dealer tables.
The toy auction, which consisted of a collection owned by Mr. and Mrs. John Kime of Canton, included 578 lots including 70 pedal tractors.
Garner said Kime collected toys for about 40 years. Due to serious health problems, he decided to sell the collection.
The top selling item was a Massey Harris 44 pedal tractor that garnered a bid of $4,500. A custom Oliver 88 Hi-Crop pedal tractor sold for $1,900 and a custom Cockshutt 660 sold for $1,800.
In the one-sixteenth scale lots, a handmade case pull type combine sold for $300 and a U-Haul box trailer brought $70.
Garner noted the second half of the collection will be sold on New Years Day. |
