Carrollton attorney re-appointed to chair state bar association section

FPS staff report

A Carrollton attorney has been reappointed to chair a section of a state committee.

Kathleen A. Stoneman was named to chair the Solo, Small Firm and General Practice Section for 2013-2014 by State Bar Association President Jonathan Hollingsworth.

The OSBA maintains 31 standing committees and 11 sections, each of which monitors a particular area of law. Committees and sections work to improve the justice system by keeping Ohio lawyers informed about the latest court decisions and regulatory changes. In addition, they comment on bills before the Ohio General Assembly and draft their own legislative proposals to improve existing laws.

A general practitioner, Stoneman is a principal in The Law Office of Stoneman Law Office Co., LPA in Carrollton. An active OSBA member, she has served on its Juvenile Law Committee, OfficeKeeper Advisory Committee, Pro Bono Committee Task Force, Gender Task Force (2010), Council of Delegates, and the Family Law Committee. She is also a member of the Carroll County Bar Association, Stark County Bar Association and Oregon State Bar Association. In her community, Stoneman serves on the Carroll County Board of the American Cancer Society. She is also a former board member and past president of the Carroll County Foundation, a past county chairman of the American Heart Association and a former board member of the Carroll County Board of Mental Retardation/Development Disabilities. She graduated summa cum laude from Mount Union College with a major in history and went on to receive her law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. Stoneman and her husband, William, have one son, Ethan, and one daughter, Maureen.
