The popular market basket giveaway promotion is returning to the Carrollton Farmers Market.

On May 23, every time a shopper makes a purchase at the Carrollton Farmers Market, they will be entered in a drawing to win a free bushel basket full of items offered for sale at the market. One lucky winner will go home with farm fresh eggs, home baked bread, asparagus, jelly, homemade gourmet candy, apples, flowers, plants, and more. Full story

Councilwoman earns praise

Leesville Council President Doug Mallernee thanked Councilwoman Peggy Minder for all of her efforts and hard work in obtaining a litter clean up grant on behalf of the village, and then orchestrating a cleanup at the May 12 council meeting.

Minder said Leesville was the only village in Carroll County to apply for and receive the litter clean up grant offered through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Paving is scheduled to begin May 26 on four miles of SR 332 in Carroll County.

Ohio Department of Transportation officials said the road will be paved from the west end of Public Square to the junction of Canyon and Azalea roads.

Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Superior Paving & Materials of North Canton is the contractor for the $911,467 project. Completion date is June 30. Full story
