Charged with cultivation of marijuana, and trafficking in marijuana were Joseph J. Mammone, 46, and his wife, Shannon A. Mammone, 41, both of 7120 Sycamore Rd., Malvern.
Mr. Mammone was released Monday by Carroll County Municipal Court Judge Charles A. Johnston on a $20,000 recognizance bond and Mrs. Mammone is being held in the Carroll County jail on a $100,000 cash or surety bond. Preliminary hearings for the pair are set for Tuesday, April 15, at 9 a.m.
According to Carroll County Sheriff Dale R. Williams, both subjects were taken into custody without incident at their residence after a lengthy investigation into the husband and wife growing marijuana plants in their home and garage.
Sheriff Williams said narcotics officers executed a search warrant at 3:30 p.m. obtained from Judge Johnston at the suspects' residence.
Upon execution of the warrant, officers discovered 31 marijuana plants as well as firearms, U. S. currency, growing materials, grow lights, processed marijuana and numerous drug abuse instruments.
