FPS staff report

Hello everyone!  For over twenty years now, thanks to my mom, I receive a copy of the Daily Guideposts.  It is a book with spirit-lifting thoughts of every day of the year.  The many authors who share their stories often spark my attention for further reading.  And that my friends, is what happened with this story!

When the author and his wife were at a busy intersection during the five o'clock rush hour, all traffic suddenly came to a four-way standstill.  A mother mallard was leading her ten golden-fuzzed ducklings across the street.  Thus, this scene reminded him of the book written by Robert McCloskey.  The title of this book is "Make Way for Ducklings."

This book was published in 1941 and was awarded The Caldecott Medal as "The Most Distinguished American Picture Book for Children" in the year of its publication.

What a story. A perfect read to share with a little one on your lap or one just for you to remind you that the world is still full of caring people.
Until next time, keep your eyes open.  You never know who you may run in to.
Your friend,
Sherry

When Mr. and Mrs. Mallard look for a place to raise their family it has to be just the right spot.  It has to be a nice place.  It also has to be free of foxes in the woods or turtles in the water.

After a long journey, they found their perfect spot once they flew over the Charles River.  The island they picked was nice and quiet.  And it was the proper place to hatch ducklings.  But once they meet up with their dad, it's a different story.
