Walking is one of the easiest and inexpensive exercises you can do. The Carroll County Teen Leaders 4-H Club and the Carroll County 4-H Committee is sponsoring a One-Mile Fitness Walk May 21 from 5-6 p.m. at the Carroll County Fairgrounds.
The walk is being held in conjunction with the 4th annual Healthy Ohioans Statewide Fitness Walk. All Ohioans are encouraged to participate to collectively walk a million miles this day.
All Carroll County residents are invited to join the groups to take this first step to walking your way to fitness. The first 50 people to sign up will receive a free water bottle. There will be door prizes and other giveaways during the event and someone will be on hand doing blood pressure checks.
A special prize will be given to the 4-H club, office or group that brings the most walkers with them to the event. "It's an easy walk, it only takes about 20 minutes or so to walk a mile, but it is a great first step to getting in shape for summer!" says Vicky Oboy, extension educator, 4-H youth development. "We will walk rain or shine."
