Jill Cline crowned Mother of the Year

FPS Staff Report

Jill Cline was crowned 2008 "Mother of the Year" at the annual Leavittsville Mother/Child Banquet held May 8 in the church annex.
Jill was crowned by her daughter, Jessica Abel.  She was presented a certificate, flowers and gift by Norma Elifritz, president of Christian Women's Club.

Jill resides in Sherrodsville with her husband, Bruce.  She has two children, Craig Cline and Jessica (Jason) Abel of Sherrodsville.

Jill is a very active member of Leavittsville CWC and attended Leavittsville Methodist Church most of her life.  She is an avid bowler and sponsors a team on the Tuesday Early Bird league.  She enjoys being a stay at home mom where she makes family her top priority.  She enjoys helping others and has a very soft spot for animals, having rescued and cared for countless stray critters.

Several men from the community served the covered dish dinner.  Julie McIntire, along with her daughters, Lindsy and Lacey, decorated tables in an old fashioned theme.  Cookie jars and gumdrop candies adorned the tables.  Each place setting consisted of cookie cutter favors and sugar cookies labeled "My Little Cowboy Sugar Cookie" to coordinate with a poem read by Norma Elifritz, mistress of ceremonies.

Jane Maney presented the program "The Jane Leno Show" where she hosted "Mothers from our Past."  Elifritz was the first guest.  She showed how to make butter in an old crock butter churn.  Susan Cook displayed several quilts, including one made for her by her late aunt, Alma White, and explained how different patterns are made and the era they belong to.  Julie Korns demonstrated the spinning wheel.  She had many different items she has made from the wool of her goats and sheep.  She explained the different techniques for dying wool.

Door prizes and category gifts were presented and Marie Burns closed the evening with prayer
