FPS Staff Report

Stark County Fair Band
Members of the Stark County Fair Band march at the Stark County Fair.

The Stark County Fair Band will present a free patriotic concert Saturday evening, June 28, at the Bluebird Amphitheater in Carrollton.

Beginning at 7 p.m., the program will feature several patriotic selections, along with well known marches and a couple polkas.

Patriotic selections include Star Spangled Spectacular, God Bless America, Armed Forces Salute and Stars and Stripes Forever. The band is under the direction of Ted Wenger, former band director at Canton South and Perry High Schools. Band members include Don Rutledge of Carrollton.

The band appears throughout the year at various concert venues in Stark County, including the annual Stark County Fair. Members come from various backgrounds, but many are practicing or retired music teachers.

Those planning to attend the concert should take lawn chairs and/or blankets. The concert is sponsored by the Carroll County Commission for Advancement of the Arts.

This is the third in a series of eight concerts presented at the Bluebird Amphitheater by the Carroll County Arts Center in Carrollton. Although the concert is free, a freewill donation will be accepted during intermission to benefit the performing arts series.

The next event at Bluebird Amphitheater is vocalist Mark Statler of Jewett who will perform songs of the 1930s, 40s and 50s Saturday, July 12, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and four tickets for $35. Tickets can be purchased at the Arts Center at 204 W. Main St. in Carrollton or at the gate the night of the show. For further information, contact the Arts Center at 330-627-3739 or visit the Center’s website at www.carrollcountyartscenter.org for maps and links to performers websites.
Alcohol, firearms, smoking, pets and glass containers are not permitted on the Bluebird grounds. All events are subject to change according to weather conditions.
