Several members of the Carrollton Village Fire Department (CVFD) received training at The Upper Ohio Valley Fire and Rescue School March 28 and 29.
Each member participated in a different training course in order to acquire varied training to be applied to the CVFD MERIT Program. The Multi-Emergency Rapid Intervention Team (MERIT) program was established to transform members of the CVFD into a highly trained search and rescue (SAR) team.
Each attendee will in turn conduct a class for the rest of the department to pass on the skills attained.
Firefighters who attended and the course they participated in are: Chief Tom Mesler, NIMS 300, a federally required course for fire chiefs; Asst. Chief Bill Wells and Ed Trushel, Leadership training; Chris Brooks, Incident Safety Officer (ISO); Chad Wells, ATV Search and Rescue; Todd Rutledge, Farm Extrication; Nick Jackson, Meth Lab Awareness for First Responders; Andy Gonda, Firefighter Survival Tactics and Rick Eddy, Hunter Rescue.
