Artworks for display in the garden are on exhibit at the Carroll County Arts Center during July and August.
An exhibit of nature photography by Randy Hull of Carrollton will accompany the outdoor works and a slide program developed by Hull will be featured.
On July 27, a dedication ceremony for the Memorial Garden at the back of the center is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. Mike Doak. The garden will be dedicated to all deceased artists and patrons who were members of the Carroll County arts commission. The public is invited to attend the dedication and artists’ reception following.
Other events at the Arts Center are a photography class by Lee Faa July 16 at 6:30 pm. Both film and digital photography will be covered. Fee is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.
The Sweet Pickin’s dulcimer group will perform at the Carrollton Farmers’ Market July 19 from 9 a.m. to noon. The group meets on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. at the arts center. All those interested in learning to play the mountain dulcimer are invited to attend.
Wayne Chunat will teach an art class for watercolors and acrylics July 31 starting at 5 p.m. Students are asked to bring their own paints and brushes and a current work in progress. Fee is $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers. A minimum of four pre-registered students is needed or the class will be cancelled. Call the arts center to pre-register for the class.
An evening of Old Fashioned Gospel Music including Southern Gospel, Bluegrass, Celtic, Appalachian, and Traditional music is scheduled July 26 at 7 p.m. Featured band is Glorybound from Negley with appearances by From the Heart Trio of Fredericktown and local artists Mark and Carol Black, Bill Hall, Rudy Hawk, Kathleen Horn and Shirley Columbo on the piano. Musical hosts for the evening are Appalachian folk artists Richard and Kathy Small. Other musical guests will be announced at a later date. This event is sponsored in part by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Tickets for July events are $10 for adults, $5 for children and four adult tickets for $35. Tickets are good at any performance during the season. They can be purchased at the Arts Center in Carrollton or at the gate before each performance.
