FPS staff report
August 19, 2008
A benefit spaghetti dinner and dance will be held Aug. 23 at the Moose Lodge in Amsterdam for Liane Grimes.
In the last three years, Grimes, 28, has suffered a stroke, autoimmune disorder and had a tumor. Grimes was mostly recovered from her stroke when she was diagnosed with autoimmune disorder and now requires treatments every other week. An autoimmune disorder is a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys healthy body tissue. This disorder caused a tumor to grow in a wishbone shape attaching to her right lung and down into her intestines. The tumor, which measured over one foot in length, was recently removed.
A spaghetti dinner, complete with bread, salad and dessert, will be served from 4-7 p.m. with music provided by DJ Rodney Baker from 7-10 p.m. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children.
A silent auction and Chinese auction will be held. Proceeds will go towards medical and travel expenses to and from Cleveland Clinic. Grimes hopes to return to work in September. |
