YMCA NOTES:

Need something to do afterschool?
Afterschool programming is underway at the Carroll County YMCA.  Grades two through five will participate on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5 p.m. and grades six through 12 on Mondays and Wednesdays at the same time.

This will be a three-part program with time divided into a homework or reading session, a fun fitness session and a gameroom session.
Refreshments will be available at an additional charge.  On Tuesdays and Thursday, an art class can replace the fitness or gameroom session for a $3 per class fee.

Experienced or not, the YMCA now offers guitar lessons every Wednesday with beginner’s lessons from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. and for those with some experience, a class 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Lyrical dance encourages fun movement through music.  Classes are held on Thursdays for ages two-   to four-years-old from 5 to 5:45 p.m. and ages five to seven from 6 to 6:45 p.m.

February has an exciting lineup of outdoor education programs with safety on ice, knife skills and “talkin’ turkey” for ages six and up on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.  Participants are encouraged to bring photos and stories of previous hunting experience.

Several daytime classes are offered for adults.  Senior strength uses a variety of exercises to enhance daily living skills on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 to 10 a.m.  Also on Tuesdays and Thursdays is cardio combo— incorporating cardio, strength and flexibility-from 10:15 to 11 a.m.  Yoga, for all fitness levels, is held Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Friday at 11 a.m.  Low-impact aerobics are on Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.   Yoga and low-impact aerobics are also offered in the evenings along with tae kwon do, cardio power mix, and Pilates.

The YMCA has expanded childwatch hours, available for kids ages one through seven of adults in class or using the fitness center.  Childwatch hours are Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9 to 11 a.m. and Monday through Thursday 5:30 to 8 p.m.,  Friday 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Please contact the Carroll County YMCA at 330-627-9622 to sign up for any class or for more information.
