FPS staff report

A cornhole tournament followed by line and square dancing will be held  Nov. 21 at the Carroll County YMCA, 211 Moody Ave., SW, Carrollton. 

The tournament, for two-person teams, begins at 6 p.m. with a percentage of fees awarded as payout.  Dancing begins at 8 p.m. with caller Dan Kirk.  No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome.

Whatever your fitness level, the YMCA offers a wide variety of equipment for those who prefer to work out alone and classes for fitness in a group setting. 

YMCA members receive access to the wellness center and the free weight room 7 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturdays and 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 7 p.m. on Friday. 

In addition, members can attend an unlimited number of fitness classes which include two levels of aerobics, three levels of yoga, Pilates, SilverSneakers, Zumba and Kidfit for ages seven to 14.  Program discounts are offered to members for classes including tae kwon do, archery, guitar and self-defense for women.

Attention seventh and eighth grade boys and girls!  Sign up now for the Carroll County YMCA’s co-ed youth basketball league.  Practices begin this month with games to be played this winter at Louisville.  Cost is $25 for members and $50 for non-members.

The YMCA is also starting a boy’s basketball team for grades nine through 12.  Teams will have a maximum of 10 players and play Sunday afternoons at Minerva beginning January 3.  Deadline for registration is Dec. 14.  Cost is $35.
