Toys for Tots and the Carroll County Volunteer Fire Department are once again teaming up for a unique pancake breakfast.
Deb Oberlin, the county coordinator for Toys for Tots, said the fire department is hosting a breakfast Nov. 28 from 8-11 a.m. at the county fire station on Kensington Rd. The event is a fundraiser for Toys for Tots, but those who donate will get something in return.
“We’re adding a special twist this year,” Oberlin stated. “The first 100 people who donate money or a toy to Toys for Tots will receive a gift, courtesy of the Cleveland Indians. They are really nice and unique gifts,” she added.
Santa Claus plans to attend the breakfast to visit with children and will pose for pictures, taken by parents and friends.
“We are doing something else a little different this year,” Oberlin explained. “People who are not able to attend the breakfast, but who wish to give money or a toy to Toys for Tots and can do so during the parade. We’ll have marines marching in the parade to accept donations of all kinds,” she said.
Later that evening, an auction will be held at the Days Inn in Carrollton with proceeds going to Toys for Tots. The auction, which begins at 6 p.m., will also feature Cleveland Indians collectable items. Carl Lowter is the auctioneer for the sale.
The menu for the breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, orange juice and milk. Cost is $5 for adults, $4 for children 4 to 12 years of age and free for children 3 and under.
Oberlin said Carroll County residents who would like to apply for assistance from Toys for Tots this holiday season may do so by calling or visiting Carroll Hills School on Kensington Rd. and asking for Lori. |
