Antique Club show starts Friday

FPS staff report

The 10th annual Pioneer Farm Equipment, Quilt, Garden Tractor and Car Show is set for Oct. 16-18.

The event will be held at the Carroll County Fairgrounds on SR 9, north of Carrollton, the event is sponsored by the Carroll County Antique Collector’s Club.  Each year a different model of tractor is featured.  Ford is the featured tractor this year and those wishing can purchase raffle tickets to win a 1953 Ford Golden Jubilee.

The show opens with breakfast from 8-10 a.m. each day.  The tractor and equipment show runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.  The sawmill and equipment demonstrations and vendors open at 10 a.m.  Lunch will be served each day beginning at 11 a.m.

A Mod-Rod Tractor pull starts at 7 p.m. Friday evening with a fish fry from 4-7 p.m.

Saturday will feature corn husking/shredding from 10 a.m. to noon; corn fodder baling, 10:30-noon and sorghum processing, 1:30-3:30 pm.  The quilt show begins at 11 a.m.; tractor games, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; kid’s pedal pull, 2-3:30 p.m. and a chicken dinner 4-7 p.m.

Church services will begin at 8 a.m. Sunday with a tractor show 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; car show 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; tractor games 12-2 p.m. and a tractor and equipment parade at 2:30 p.m.  Awards and the tractor raffle drawing will be held at 3:15 p.m. 

The antique tractor pull begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.  Classes include 3,500, 4,500, 5,500 pound antique and 4,500 and 5,500 open antique and 6,500 and 7,500 pound stock classes.  Entry fee is $10 for the transfer pull featuring Humiliator #6 sled.

The tractor and truck pull begins at 4 p.m.  Classes include 10,500 and  12,500 pound stock; 8,500 open combo class; 8,500 4-wheel drive truck; 6,500 V-8, and 7,700 Classic Super Stock (Div.5).  Entry fee is $20 per class.

The dead weight tractor pull begins at 10 a.m. Sunday.  Classes are 4,000; 5,500, 9,500 and 11,500 pound.  A special 7,500-pound exclusive “Red Power Class” sponsored by Binder’s Repair of Harlem Springs and D&C Sales of Waynesburg will be held.  Entry fee is $5 per entry.

Musical entertainment includes the Back Porch Rejects on Friday; Sweet Pickens & Friends dulcimer group and Blossom Country Dancers and Saturday evening entertainment is Back Road Band.
