FPS staff report

Patrons and sponsors are the heroes who make Dancing on the Bridge a success. 

The patron party is held to honor those who donate $25 or more to support community improvement and economic development projects.  The party will be held in the Malvern Historical Society’s Gazebo Park Sept. 11 from 4-6:30 p.m.  If there is bad weather, the party will be moved to St. Francis Xavier Hall.

Reservations are required to receive an admission nametag.  Please call the patron party answering machine at 330-863-6604 or Malvern Village Hall at 330-863-1316 to make your reservations.

A schedule of events for Dancing on the Bridge scheduled for Sept. 12 is listed below. 

Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor Show - Registration for the show starts at 10 a.m. Sept. 12.  The show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dash plaques will be given to the first 75 entries.   Awards will be presented at 3:30 p.m.  Classes are:  1940s and earlier; 1950s; 1960s; 1970s; 1980s; 1990s and up; Corvettes; Mustangs; Best 55, 56 & 57 Chevy; Street Rods; Muscle Cars; Convertibles; Motorcycles; Harley Davidson’s; Trucks; SUVs; Tractors-open class; Mayor’s Trophy; Chairman’s Trophy; and Best of show for cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles.   For more information about the show call the chairman, Jack Leggett at 330-863-1744.

Children’s Area - We are proud to offer free, fun and educational activities for children.  Kids are urged to visit the Children’s area adjacent to the Malvern Fire Department for games, arts, crafts, face painting, the Balloon Man, prizes, cookies and other surprises.

Spikeman - The area’s renowned car show deejay, Spikeman will perform with humor, commentary and music from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Street Entertainers - Ignite, the Malvern Christian Church’s contemporary group will perform from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.; Jessie Gatchick, guitarist & singer will perform from 2-3 p.m.; The NuHall Dancers, modern western square dancers will perform and invite the audience to participate in Line Dancing and Square Dancing from 2-4 p.m.; Karaoke by Marco for all is scheduled for 4:30 - 7:30 p.m.; New Towne Cloggers will entertain from 6-7 p.m.; Derin Marie, singer, guitarist & keyboardist will perform from 5-6 p.m.; Tim Angeloni will do his “walk around magic” from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. and La Flavour, the popular show band will perform from 8-11 p.m.
The Beer Garden on the Bridge will be open from Noon until 11 p.m. and a variety of foods prepared by community groups and food vendors will be available.  Artisans and crafters will have their wares on display. 

Each year variety of gift baskets are raffled  and souvenir light-up necklaces sold.  Proceeds from these items help pay expenses for the free children’s area, renting port-a-potties, printing and postage and other expenses that make Dancing on the Bridge possible. Community support of the basket raffle and necklaces will allow the committee to use 100 percent of patron and sponsor gifts for community projects.
