FPS staff report

Now is the time to sign up for Fall Youth Leagues at the Carroll County YMCA.

Soccer will be offered to players age five through 14.  Children will learn fundamentals of the game through practice and all will participate in weekly games.

This year flag football teams, for kids in grades one through four, will play teams from Minerva and Louisville and have a chance to play in the Lake football stadium.

Fifth and sixth graders can play tackle football with full pads.  Cheerleading will be taught to children in grades K through six.  Practices begin in August so sign up today.

Registration is also underway for the Carroll County YMCA’s annual 5K Race at the county fairgrounds on Aug. 15 at 9 a.m.  The 2009 Back to School Safety & Wellness Extravaganza follows at 11 a.m.

On July 5, summer membership rates at the YMCA are cut fifty percent.  It’s not too late for a college student or visiting grandchild to join at a great rate and take advantage of all the programs and workout facilities the YMCA offers.

Programs of the YMCA, 211 Moody Ave., Carrollton, run continuously throughout the summer; however, there will be no yoga or Pilates classes July 6-10.

Call the Carroll County YMCA at 330-627-9622 to register, receive a program guide or for any other information.
