Annual Red Cross fundraiser helps others

FPS staff report

Organizations can earn cash and help their community at the same time.

The American Red Cross is preparing for the 14th annual Duck Race presented by the Dennison Railroad Festival Committee.

Individuals or groups will receive $1 for each duck sold.  Pre-organized group sale opportunities are available on a first come, first served basis.

The highest group sales win $250 in cash (a minimum of 70 ducks must be sold to qualify) and highest individual sales wins $100 (minimum of 30 ducks sold to qualify).

Funds raised from the event will be used to support the Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross’s work in Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas counties by providing shelter, clothing, and food to a family devastated by a house fire, supporting our US service members and their families during emergency situations, saving lives through health and safety trainings and transporting clients to medical appointments.

To participate in the event, contact Collin Fawcett of the Dennison Railroad Festival, at 330-339-1400 or via email at collin.fawcett@edwardjones.com; or Amy Smith, Red Cross volunteer at 330-327-1243 or by email at wjerproduction@wjer.com.

Anyone who purchases a rubber duck for the 14th annual Red Cross Duck Race will receive a free entry into the Uhrichsville Water Park June 30 from 6-8 p.m.  Contests and giveaways, along with music, food and games, will be held during the event.  A grand prize of $500 will be awarded, $200 for second and $100 third.  Ducks are $5 each or a “Fantastic 5 Pack” for $20.  To purchase a duck, call 330-343-8633.
