The Carroll County Dairy Promotion Board will celebrate the accomplishments of the past year March 2 at noon at the 2013 Carroll County Dairy Banquet.
The banquet will be held at the Carrollton Friendship Center, 100 Kensington Rd., Carrollton. Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased by Feb. 22. Children’s prices will be given upon request. The public is invited, however no tickets will be sold at the door.
The banquet will feature a buffet style stuffed pork chop or stuffed chicken breast dinner, county dairy production awards, a dairy promotion board report, election of dairy board members and the crowning of the 2013 Carroll County Dairy Princess and runner-up.
Girls between the ages 13-18 years of age as of Jan. 1, can request an application by calling Tracy Evans at 330-895-3576. Applications are due Feb. 24.
Each girl will be interviewed prior to the banquet. Winners will receive a crown, sash, flowers, and a $100/$50 cash award respective to her title. All contestants will receive a free meal at the banquet.
The Promotion Board will also pay tribute to past Carroll County Distinguished Dairy Service Award recipients.
In 1988, the Dairy Promotion Board awarded the first Distinguished Service Award posthumously to Lloyd Sharp. The award is presented to those who go above and beyond to promote the dairy industry. Since that time, the board has awarded several Carroll County farmers and promoters the award. The board is asking past recipients or anyone who knows of a past recipient to contact John Neider at 330-627-5157. Recipients will be recognized and will receive a free meal compliments of the dairy board.
