Schedule of events for Malvern festival includes music, dancing, food, fun

Fun, fellowship and entertainment is planned Sept. 7 during the Malvern’s annual Dancing on the Bridge festival.

A Pancake Breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to noon at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 105 S. Reed Ave.  Cost is $3.50 per person and includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and orange juice. 

GG’s Coffee House and Cafe will open at 10 a.m. to serve coffee and pastries.  At noon (the usual vendor opening time), they will begin a sandwich menu.

Registration for the Car, Truck, Motorcycle and Tractor Show will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Entry fee is $8 per vehicle for one class or $12 if entering a vehicle in two classes.  The first 75 vehicles registered will receive one dash plaque per vehicle.

Classes includes 1940 & earlier, 1950s to present, Corvettes, Mustangs, Street Rods, Rat Rods, Harley Davidsons, and Motorcycles.  Truck and tractor will have two divisons:  1950s & earlier and 1960s and newer.  Awards and door prizes will be handed out during the afternoon.  DJ Spikeman will perform 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and guitarist and singer, John Dendak, will entertain from 2-3 p.m.

Children’s Activity Area will be open 12-6 p.m. with free  fun and educational activities for children 12 and under in the area adjacent to the former Malvern Fire Dept. building.  There will be games, balloons, prizes and candy, a dunking tank and two bouncy houses. Activities will include: Crafts and face painting, 12-2 p.m.; cornhole, obstacle course, games, 2-4 p.m.; and music and games, 4-6 p.m.  The Malvern High School Band performance begins at 4 p.m.

Other entertainment includes: Todd T. Taylor, entertainer and singer, 4-6 p.m.; Tim Angeloni “walk around magic” at 5 p.m.; New Towne Cloggers, 6-7 p.m.; and LaFlavour, mainstage dance band, 8-11 p.m.

A total of 34 vendors will be on site from 12 - 10 p.m.  A beer garden will be open from 12 - 11 p.m.  It will be located on the bridge and operated by members of the Malvern American Legion.

Basket raffle tickets will be sold and winners will be drawn at 7:30 p.m.

A patron party will be held Sept. 6 from 4-6 p.m. to honor donors of $25 or more to support community improvements. 

“Thank you to all local citizens who contributed to Dancing on the Bridge 2013”, Connie Griffin, Malvern Community Development Fund  (MCDF) president said.  “On behalf of the MCDF board of Trustees, I extend our gratitude for your support of projects that improve Malvern.  Please come out and enjoy the end-of-summer fun Saturday, Sept. 7!”
