It’s time for the annual Snode’s Melon Fest!
The event is planned for Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Activities begin with music by The Old Timers from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Contests begin with a horseshoe tournament at 11:30 a.m.; watermelon eating at 12:30 p.m. and watermelon seed spitting contest at 1 p.m.
The Carrollton High Showstoppers will perform at 1 p.m. followed by a wife-carrying contest at 1:30 p.m.; a three legged race at 2 p.m. and wheelbarrow race at 2:30 p.m.
The Country Music Makers will perform from 3-5 p.m. Kids can compete in a pedal tractor pull at 3 p.m. Other activities include a tug of war at 3:30 p.m. and a melon weight-guessing contest at 4:30 p.m.
Food, face painting, crafts and a straw maze will be available throughout the day along with hayrides at $1 per person. Entry fee is $1 per person per contest. Admission is free with a $2 parking charge per car.
