Christmas Tourn of Homes
Isaac, 4, Luke, 6, and Laura Warner sit in front of the decorated fireplace in their home which is included in the 2009 Annual Holiday Tour of Homes. Boyd Warner was absent when the picture was taken.

The annual Christmas Tour of Homes and Christmas Tree Extravaganza will be held Dec. 6 from 1-5 p.m.

The tour will either begin at the Carroll County Arts Center in Carrollton or at Atwood Lake Resort, outside Dellroy.  Maps will be available at both locations and decorated trees will be on display.
Homes on the tour include:

*Denny and Pat Roudebush, 291 4th St., Carrollton - In 1912, Isabel Wright leased the vacant lot to A.R. Roudebush for gardening purposes at a rate of $10 per year plus 15 bushel of apples.  Chalmers Thomas built the residence in 1928 and operated an antique business in the barn behind the home. The Roudebushes purchased the home from the estate of Thelma Mae Fowler in 1992.  They have done extensive remodeling including uncovering solid oak woodwork and flooring on the main level.

Denny and Pat’s eclectic decorating style will include six Christmas trees and a snowman collection.

*Scot and Mary Kay Spears, 348 Foxbury Dr., Carrollton - Located in the Courtview Allotment, each room in the Spears’ home has it own individual theme.  Visitors can see an upside down tree on display in the dining room and an Ohio State themed room.

*Boyd and Laura Warner, 1160 Antigua Rd., Carrollton - A farmhouse with a wrap-around front porch, the Warner residence was built in 2002.  The home is decorated for the holidays in a country style with a mix of antiques, patriotic tree and Ohio State decorations.

*Bill and Diane Sheldon, 2306 Empire Rd, Carrollton - The Tudor-style home was built in 1931 by former state representative Ross (Liz) Buchanan.  Upon his death, the home was left to his alma mater Mt. Union College.  Most of the light fixtures, built-in cupboards and hardware are original.

Avid antique collectors, the home features an “antique Christmas” theme, tins, old ice cream scoops and other items, Juanita ware and paintings from the former Cox mansion located near Augusta.

*Vince and Tanya Carter, 5182 Waynesburg Rd, Dellroy - The house was built in 2005 and has many decorated rooms with an “Old winter Ski Lodge” theme.  Several trees are located in the basement giving it a “ski lodge” feeling.  A santa and snowman egg collection will be on display along with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace visitor’s can walk around.

*Bluebird Farm and Toy Museum, 190 Alamo Rd, Carrollton - The restaurant and toy museum will be decorated for the holidays.  Williamsburg theme with Byers Carolers, antique pillowcases over the back of chairs, and four-foot wreaths will be featured in the restaurant.  The Toy Museum includes a Christmas sleigh and reindeer in a “Christmas morning” theme.  Steiff animals and Noah’s Ark along with wide selection of other items will also be available for viewing.  Punch and cookies will be served.

Local businesses and individuals donated time, talent and money to decorate 14 trees which will be offered to the public by silent auction.  Six trees are located in the lobby of Atwood Resort and the remaining eight are at the Arts Center.
